Halloween

We had a fantastic Halloween yesterday. Ethan, Erica and I spent the morning decorating the front of the house. This was a great way to keep the children distracted while David worked on an assignment upstairs. Ethan loved sticking little glow-in-the-dark spiders all over the front door. Erica liked playing with the blu tack and throwing all of our spoons onto the driveway (not sure why that was fun, but she was thoroughly enjoying herself). Below is a picture of Ethan helping me to decorate for Halloween.......

This is the finished product.....sort of. The police tape extended through to the front garden and we put cobwebs over the plants. There were also more bats than can be seen in this picture. I forgot to take a wide shot that included all of the decorations.

We invited Ethan's friend (also named Ethan) and his family to come trick or treating with us in our neighbourhood. The two Ninja Turtles had a great time! They were so busy battling imaginary enemies that they kept forgetting to stop to trick or treat the houses with Halloween decorations. We caught a couple of people unprepared (even though they had decorated their houses - which in our neighbourhood means that you are happy for the kids to knock on your door). The boys picked up some mentos.

Ethan and I made papier mache jack-o'-lanterns (in the background of the photo below) during the week. Ethan decided that the papier mache was too messy, so left me to do that on my own. He wasn't too keen on the painting either. I think painting in one colour seemed a bit boring. He painted his own pictures on paper, while I did the orange. However he really liked designing faces for the pumpkins.

Rob and Sarah came over for dinner. We had spider pizza......

followed by 'boo-nilla' milkshakes.

After dinner we played games on Rob and Sarah's wii, then watched fireworks from the backyard (the school around the corner has a Halloween carnival every year). Ethan declared it to be the best Halloween ever.
