When we lived in Melbourne we became used to rainy weekends. Sometimes it was nice to sit on the couch in our pyjamas, watching movies and eating take-away Thai food. However, after lots of rainy weekends in a row we would become a bit bored of staying at home or going to a shopping centre. We started to long for an outdoor activity that wouldn't be interrupted by freezing rain.
When we moved to Queensland, ocassionally we would lament the loss of lazy rainy Saturdays. The sun outside would taunt us until we left the house and did something active.
Over the past week in Sydney we have had a chance to re-trial 'Melbourne weather'. It rained for most of the week.

The kids and I did our first walk home from school in the rain...
Ethan enjoyed the walk in the rain. He was excited to wear his new raincoat. Erica was less impressed.
We also scheduled a family movie evening (these days we have to schedule and organise ourselves for activities like sitting on the couch).
By the end of the week I was getting sick of being indoors. I couldn't even escape to the shops because I am car-less at the moment.
