We had a great Easter weekend! It is always nice when public holidays overlap with David's University breaks.
On Friday we had a home-day where David spent quality time with the children while I took the opportunity to do some cleaning undisturbed (yes it is sad that undisturbed cleaning time is on my wish-list of things to do during holidays). Ethan particularly enjoyed watching the 80s Transformers cartoon movie with David. I was amused by the robotic 'transforming' noises that seem to occur nearly every other minute in the movie.
On Saturday we attended Superhero Saturday at our local Toys R Us store. Ethan and Erica dressed up (Ethan as Batman, Erica as a moose - we don't have any superhero costumes for Erica) and participated in superhero activities. Ethan was able to have his photo taken with Star Wars characters.
Toys R Us was also running a 'build-a-bunny' workshop where you could make a lego Easter Bunny. It was very crowded so we took our lego pieces home for construction.
On Sunday morning Ethan woke up bright and early and reported to David and I that the Easter Bunny had left chocolate eggs on the stairs. We got up to inspect and the children searched the rest of downstairs and turned up some more treats. Erica found a chocolate rabbit and immediately unwrapped it and started eating.
We had some friends over for dinner that night. During the conversation realised that we hadn't heard anything from Erica for a little while. So we started looking around for her. One of our friends spotted Erica in the family room. When we went to inspect we found that her mouth was covered in chocolate and she had a sizable pile of coloured foil sitting in front of her. While we were chatting she had gone to the fridge and pulled down her bag of easter eggs (which were sitting on a shelf we thought she couldn't reach). She had a great little feast.
On Monday morning we had breakfast with some friends at Nielsen Park Beach House. Ethan had a great time drawing on the tablecloth (which is allowed - paper tablecloth with crayons provided). We then drove a short distance to Camp Cove for a play at the beach. When we returned home we played some lego rock band and enjoyed left-over cheesecake and ice-cream.
