The day after we arrived in 'sunny' Queensland it started to rain and it continued to rain and rain and rain. However, we had Dreamworld/Whitewater World passes with one week of access left and we weren't about to let the wet weather stop us from getting maximum value. We ventured to Whitewater World three times and Dreamworld once during that week. Who cares about the rain if you are swimming already right? Well, we did occasionally because the wind made it a little cold, but overall it was still a lot of fun.
We initially had a little bit of drama at Whitewater World. Ethan tried to go on the Wiggle Bay water slides with Erica and his cousins. He was turned away and told he was TOO TALL. David and I measured him and realised that he was just slightly taller than the minimum height required for a lot of the adult rides, so Ethan set off with David and I to try some 'grown-up' rides. He was a little apprehensive at first, but ended up loving the big water slides.
Ethan is definitely braver than I was at his age. As a child I went to the water slides at the Woolshed (which are pretty tame). I stood in the line and waited. Then when I reached the top of the water slide I looked down, turned around and walked back to the bottom.
At one point I saw Ethan playing in the Nickelodeon area and I asked him to stand still for a couple of seconds while I took his photo. This is what happened.........

Fortunately Ethan could see the humorous side of having a huge bucket of water dumped on his head.
Dreamworld was great. We have been there plenty of times in the past, but this time there were virtually no lines. I'm guessing a combination of rainy weather and Christmas Eve stopped people visiting.

Ethan and Erica with SpongeBob and Patrick.

At one point Erica walked away from us around a corner and despite calling out to her she didn't come back. We followed her around the corner and found that she had gone to hug Dorothy.

Ethan on his first roller coaster ride. He loved it.
