I have been watching the images of the Queensland floods on tv with a mixture of fascination and horror. This picture in particular really shocked me.......

Not because it shows the worst damage, there are much worse images, but the location is very familiar to me. That is Sir Fred Schonell Drive in St Lucia. I lived just around the corner from these shops for four years while I was studying at University. Thank goodness the University year hasn't started yet, otherwise there would have been an awful lot of displaced foreign students without family close by.
I have also seen a video on the Brisbane Times website showing parts of Drift Cafe (very ironic name) being washed away and destroyed. You can even see the grand piano sinking under the water. I used to work there as a DJ for weddings back when it was called Oxley's on the River.
Here is a picture......

David told me that his old office in West End was evacuated early yesterday. That night we were watching the news and saw footage of people placing sandbags at the entrance to the building. I have also noticed that our old suburb, Clayfield, is also being affected by the flood waters.
We have been glad to hear that all of our Queensland family members are fine. We hope that all of you stay safe and dry over the coming days.
