When we used to live in Melbourne I would often take Ethan to the Melbourne Museum. It was handy to our house, out of the rain and has a great children's area. Ethan had completely forgotten everything about this museum, so I decided to return with the kids while we were visiting Melbourne recently.
We packed bags, flew to another city, paid for an apartment, caught a tram and paid admission to the museum - all so the kids could then choose to do pretty much the same things they do at home........

Ethan made a beeline for the giant lego blocks. Above is Ethan and Erica starting construction - just as they do at home.

"Look what I made Mum" - just like home.

Knocking over the tower - just like home.

Erica pouting because Ethan asked her not to take blocks from his creations - just like home.

Ethan's piece de resistance. He told me that this is The Empire State Building and he is King Kong. He doesn't build that at home, but probably would if he had regular access to giant lego.

Pulling faces in the mirror - just like home. Although our mirrors aren't quite as fun.

Erica dressing up - just like home. Although she is usually a princess, not a wombat.

Erica leaping onto cushions - just like home.

Ethan putting his head inside an ant colony - just like home. Kidding! That would be some terrible parenting if I let him do that at home.

A closer shot so you can see the ants walking on top of the dome.

Ethan holding a dinosaur skull. One of the museum volunteers told us which type of dinosaur it came from and made us memorise the name, but an hour later we realised we had both forgotten. We definitely don't do this at home and Ethan thought it was pretty cool.
