While we were in the Forbidden City we could see a couple of structures close by that seemed high enough to offer a good view over the rooftops. We decided to climb the white building in the picture below (taken from within the Forbidden City)......

Before we could climb the White Dagoba, we first passed through Yong'an Temple. The red ornaments are tied to trees by worshippers for good luck, happiness, wealth and a long life.

This is the White Dagoba. It was build in 1651 for a visit by the Dalai Lama and is part of Beihai Park. Four hundred years before the Dagoba was built Kublai Khan had a palace here.

Looking over the rooftops of the Forbidden City. Unfortunately the photo doesn't really do it justice.

There is a big lake in Beihai Park. David was extremely keen to take a boat out for a spin. Above is David revelling in the role of ship's captain.

Behind me is the Long Corridor.

Behind me is some of the 5 Dragon Pavilions. I really enjoyed being able to see the park from the water and it was very relaxing. David loves anything that involves being on the water, so he said that driving the boat was one of his highlights of China.
