Drum Tower, Xi'an


The Drum Tower was built in 1380 during the Ming Dynasty. Sunset was marked each day with drumming. Above is David standing in front of the Drum Tower.

An external shot of the Drum Tower where you can see the row of drums David was trying (at about the height of the tree tops). There are also two very large drums visible on the back wall.



David experienced a few challenges with some of the old architecture in China.



Looking from the Drum Tower across to the Bell Tower. Originally sunrise was marked by the ringing of a bell. Now the Bell Tower is surrounded by a large round-a-bout. Here is a day-time shot (not my picture) which is clearer......
