Balboa Park is a huge green space in downtown San Diego with lots of museums and beautiful Spanish Revival architecture. This is also the location of the San Diego Zoo. However having visited a zoo per year over the last few years, we decided to skip this attraction. In the picture above you can see the Bell Tower and Dome of the California Building.
On the other side of the California Building.
In Spreckels Organ Pavilion.
Also in Spreckels Organ Pavilion. There is a large outdoor pipe organ in this area. On the day we visited there weren't any concerts, but there was some sort of cosplay group in the park and they were taking a lot of photos on the stage, leaping around. There also seemed to be a wedding party around every corner having pictures taken.
We only had time to visit one museum. We settled on the automotive museum, partly because it seemed interesting and partly because we found a car park right next to it. Here are some pictures of our favourite cars....
I like the old cars.
David with a Model T. While driving in the USA we noticed that Americans seem to be far more loyal to their local automotive manufacturers than we are here in Australia. A lot more domestic product on the roads in America than in Australia.
"Are you telling me that this sucker is nuclear?"
Cool interior.
