Halloween

Our Halloween was split into two days this year. We had our Halloween dinner and the school Halloween Carnival on Saturday. On Monday the kids went trick or treating.

On Saturday I tried to keep the kids occupied with outdoor activities as much as possible, because David was inside working on an assignment. We spent the morning cleaning windows, sweeping leaves and watering plants. Erica loves doing these kinds of activities, Ethan not so much. They were both thrilled when I told them that now that the house was clean we could put up our Halloween decorations.

Ethan and Erica with their Halloween crafts. Ethan made his witch at school. Erica made her bat and spider at the library.

Putting up decorations. Erica has a container of glow-in-the-dark spiders that she is hanging on the web.

Ethan spreading spider web on the wall.

Look what I did!

Skeleton and spider web heads.

Our Boo-tiful chicken pie. It is hard to see, but there is a ghost and the word 'boo!' on the pie.

A dessert of our own creation. We call it Shrek's Slimey Snake Swamp. It tasted like a very sweet trifle. The kind of dessert kids love and parents tolerate.

My little chefs. Not too difficult to find helpers when the cooking involves a bag of snake lollies.

Ready for the Halloween Carnival. Ethan is Harry Potter. Erica couldn't decide whether she wanted to be a princess or a cowgirl, so she went as a cowgirl princess.

Erica with an owl jack-o'-lantern.

Erica on the jumping castle. Far happier than last year.
