Despite the name, there were no actual human children to be seen playing at this beach. In 1931 a seawall was built here to create a sheltered beach for children. However over time the seals and sea lions have decided that they like the protected beach too. So the children have been kicked out and the seals have their own beach hangout.
We walked out onto the seawall to watch the seals. I really enjoyed being able to observe them up close.
