Warner Bros. Tour, California

We went on the Warner Bros. VIP Studio Tour while we were in California. It was excellent. David and I both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is very different from Warner Brothers Movie World on the Gold Coast. We toured the actual working studio where movies and tv shows are filmed. It isn't a theme park. We were driven around in a little cart and got to hop off to look at sound stages, sets, props etc.

Above is me with the flying Ford Anglia from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This was in a room with lots of different vehicles from movies. We were also later able to see a lot of costumes and props from the Harry Potter movies, but weren't allowed to take pictures. David and I were both sorted into houses by the sorting hat. We are both Gryffindors. There was a 9 year old boy on our tour that was sorted into Slytherin. He was incredibly unimpressed.

We were taken to one of the largest soundstages. It was just a massive big empty shell when we visited, but had been used to film lots of movies such as Jurassic Park (a jungle and a waterfall had been built) and The Perfect Storm (a giant tank was used underneath the floor we were standing on).

We were also taken to a few different tv show sets. We sat in the studio audience and looked at the set of The Big Bang Theory, walked around the set of Chuck and had a peek at the set below...

We didn't spot any celebrities that I recognised. We drove past somebody from the Conan O'Brien show, but I don't watch that show, so I don't know who it was. I do know enough that I can tell you that it wasn't Conan O'Brien himself. There was also an NFL commercial being filmed, but I don't follow the NFL. We also apparently saw Simon Baker's car (there was a man on our tour who was very interested in asking about every sports car we passed).

There is a shop with Warner Bros. merchandise at the beginning (and end) point of the tour. We bought Ethan a packet of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans from Harry Potter. This is Ethan trying earwax flavour..
