We went to Rodeo Drive in the evening after the stores had closed. We really just wanted to have a quick look. When I worked out our holiday budget it didn't extend to include Versace (the white store with the columns behind me). Hence window-shopping suited us fine.

Rodeo Drive is indeed a very glamorous shopping area. I think it would be a great place to eat lunch on a sunny day (and leave with some funds still left in your bank account).
