Ouch!

On Friday I received a call from Ethan's school - one of those phone calls that parents dread. There are two possibilities - 'your child is in trouble, please come see the principal', or 'your child has been hurt'. The phone call I received was the latter, and I was urged to pick Ethan up asap and take him to a Doctor. I was told that there was a lot of blood, which is always a sure fire way to make me feel queasy (I'm not good with blood).

Erica and I headed straight to the school. Fortunately by then the bleeding was under control. Ethan was calm and explained to me that he had collided with another boy while they were skipping in gymnastics class. The other boy's chin had hit Ethan's head as they both fell over. I saw the other boy sitting in the sickbay looking very unhappy with a split chin.

Ethan's cut looked small but deep, so we headed to our local medical clinic. Contrary to the way I tend to react in these situations, Ethan remained calm and still while receiving injections and three stitches. He has had a bit of a sore head over the weekend, but seems fine now.

After we came home from the medical clinic, David arrived home early from work feeling ill. He spent most of the weekend in bed. Erica and I had a busy weekend nursing our patients.

I was out with Erica earlier this week and asked her "to have some patience".
She looked puzzled and then said "but I'm not a Doctor".
