I fell pregnant shortly before the school Christmas holidays started. This meant that for the six weeks the kids were at home I was pretty ill and not a very fun Mum. However, David stepped into the role of 'holiday fun director' and took the kids out for lots of activities - beach days, ice skating, movies, lunches out, bike rides, playing in the park. He even took the kids shopping for their school supplies.

Ethan wisely opted-out of sleeping in the tent because he had athletics events to compete in the next day. Erica and David spent the night in the tent. They watched an Alvin and the Chipmunks movie and Erica played with a torch. Apparently Erica didn't settle down and fall asleep until sometime after 10pm! She had breakfast the next morning and then soon went back to sleep in her own bedroom.
