I have a few different events from January to write about, but given I have already had some requests for information about today's event I thought I might skip ahead to Erica's first day of school.
Erica ready for school this morning in her uniform.
Erica was so excited last night that she had a really hard time falling asleep. At 9pm she came downstairs to me and said "I'm so excited I just can't fall asleep". I took her up to my room where we watched a DVD in the dark and that still didn't work. So then I started reading books to her. After the first book she was lying completely still with her eyes closed, so I thought "finally, success!". However, Erica then surprised me by saying "I'm really good at keeping my eyes closed and lying still aren't I Mum". It took another two books to do the trick properly.
David and I thought she may sleep in this morning, however Erica was in our room before 7am dressed in her uniform and asking me to do up her zip. I think we may have a slightly tired girl after school this afternoon.
Erica with her chair-bag (it sits on the back of her chair and holds books).
With big brother Ethan. Ethan started school last week, so he is onto his fourth day of school for this year.
Erica, I and the one who will start school in another 5/6 years (inside my bump).
Erica walking with her new class and teacher. I wasn't the only parent standing in the path taking a photo. Actually my photo-taking seemed fairly subdued by comparison to many of the other parents this morning (that doesn't happen often).
Erica had no trouble separating from David and I. She just seemed pretty happy to finally be starting school. She even scored the same classroom Ethan had when he was in kindergarten.
And now it is time for me to walk back to school and pick Erica up! Fingers crossed she is still as thrilled with school at the end of her first day.
