Ethan's School Assignment

Ethan is currently writing a persuasive speech on whether Australia should have a new flag.  He will present this to his school class in the coming week.

This made me think about what I did for 'presentations' when I was in Grade 3.  I can remember two occasions........

One involved me bringing in a cassette tape of Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' and doing a dance for my classmates (which was made up on the spot).

The other instance I can remember involved me bringing in a large book from home that contained lots of colour pictures of animals.  I showed the class my favourite animal pictures.  I think the only reason I can remember doing this is because I gave myself a paper cut turning a page in the book, but refused to stop my presentation short despite my bleeding finger.

I definitely don't recall debates on the Australian Flag, or whether we should continue with a constitutional monarchy or become a republic.

Times have definitely changed!

Gee, I didn't put much effort into helping you plan something of a higher calibre but maybe I tried and you easily convinced me that these presentations were exactly what was needed.

Yours sound much better than mine Kerin. Maybe you gave Kerin more help Mum? haha

Mum, I don't remember mine being much different from the presentations of the other students in the class. I think that is all that was expected.

I think kids now also have the advantage of computers and the Internet to help put together something a little more 'sophisticated'.
