Our New Little Jeffrey

This is the last picture taken of me (at 39 weeks pregnant) before I went into labour.  Mum insisted that I needed a photo of myself while heavily pregnant.

The next picture.....

Not feeling too great here (an understatement).  I had been through about 24 hours of consistent pre-labour pains and was now up to about hour 9 of real labour.  An epidural was in at this point and I was hoping to get some rest (after two nights of very little sleep).  However a little while after this picture was taken I was given a drug to help speed up labour.  This definitely worked, but also resulted in me being able to feel the transition contractions because the anaesthetic was no longer strong enough to keep me numb through those.  I was extremely relieved when my obstetrician declared that I was fully dilated and could start to push.
