Up until a few months ago we had a possum living in a tree in our backyard. I would have been ok with the possum had it not liked to use the path underneath the tree as a toilet. We were able to successfully evict the possum. I still see it around sometimes, but happily it has picked another tree as it's home.
Now that the possum has gone, I guess this left a prime piece of animal real estate vacant. Our new occupants are a group of noisy birds. We get Cockatoos, Rosellas and Lorikeets, but mostly Cockatoos. At times I have counted around 15 birds hanging out in that tree.
There are three more of those same trees in our front yard. Some days it feels like we are hosting our own 12 Days of Christmas (Australian version) - sadly no golden rings.
While we are no longer stepping in possum poo, I am now sweeping up nuts/seeds, leaves and sticks on a daily basis (still preferable to the possum mess though).....
