Ethan and Erica both recently advanced to the next level in their swimming classes - on the same day!
Ethan had his school swimming carnival last week. Clara and I were able to watch Ethan's breaststroke heat. I have pointed him out with an arrow because he was in a lane on the other side of the pool from us. Ethan finished first. You can see his friend who came second in a lane close to us, and the third place-getter a bit further back. The other kids are out of shot. Ethan finished second overall in the final, so will get to compete at Zone next month.
Ethan also competed in the Regional Little Athletics competition on Saturday. The Little Athletics competitions run over a full weekend, so we always nominate Ethan for whichever events are scheduled for the Saturday. This isn't always his strongest events, which was the case this time. However, he was able to compete in the 100m, 400m and hurdles at Zone. Ethan's results at Zone then qualified him for the Regional level in all of those events. His hurdles result came as a bit of a surprise to all of us because he has had very little practise or training in this event. Ethan always has a lot of fun and genuinely enjoys these competitions.
