Erica and Clara getting ready to watch Christmas movies. Sweet sisters!
Ethan lying on the lounge ready for the movies. Ethan and Erica both had a sleep over out in the lounge room that night watching movies and eating the gingerbread house. Erica fell asleep part-way through the second movie. Ethan was still awake at 11:30pm, at which point I switched off the tv and turned off the lights because I couldn't stay awake any longer.
Ethan has a bandage on his leg because he hurt his leg in the pool. He jumped in too close to the step in the deep-end and ended up hitting his shin. He had a cut right down to the bone but thankfully no breaks or fractures. However, it was very very sore and the Doctor told him to stay off it for a few days. Not being able to run around was torture for Ethan.
Snacks left for Santa.
Our own little Santa writing her list and checking it twice.
Opening presents Christmas morning. That is Kinetic Sand for Erica.
Clara opening a present and receiving some assistance from Erica.
A video of Clara opening the present she was standing on above.
Erica thrilled with her Elsa dress.
Another picture of Elsa complete with tiara and other accessories.
Ethan thrilled with his Melbourne Storm clothes.
Breakfast! I love those rare occasions when we get to sit at the table and eat breakfast together, even when it is just cereal. It is all the more awesome when the food is great!
A post-breakfast swim for David, Erica and Clara. Ethan couldn't swim due to his leg injury.
I stayed back in the kitchen because I had taken it upon myself to cook a 5kg turkey. I needed to start dealing with it immediately after breakfast - actually technically I had already been dealing with it for days if you include the defrosting and brining. I will have to carefully consider in future years if a turkey is worth the effort.
In the past two years I had put together Summery Christmas menus and ended up with cooler rainy days (David ended up BBQing in the rain last year). This year I went for a more 'Wintery' menu (turkey, carrots, beans, roast potatoes, sweet potato casserole) and we ended up with a warm sunny day! If you want to know what the weather will be like in Sydney on Christmas Day next year just ask me which type of menu I'm planning.
Lunch.
Christmas crackers are always a hit with the kids even if they don't always understand the jokes.
We ate our dessert in the lounge while watching a movie. It was lovely and relaxing (in part because the one year old was napping at that time). All up a great Christmas!
