Hangzhou

During Chinese New Year we took off for a few days and visited Hangzhou.  Hangzhou is only a few hours drive from Shanghai, so not a big journey for us, but it was fun to see a different city.

Clara waiting patiently for a table to be ready for us at a restaurant.  We ate at a hugely popular restaurant called Wai Po Jia (Grandma's Kitchen).  It serves authentic Hangzhou food.  It was delicious.  We arrived at 5pm and had to wait half an hour to get a table.  Apparently if you arrive later it can take hours to be seated.

Fountain show.  We came into this area both nights while we were in Hangzhou because it was a short walk from our hotel.

Hangzhou is at one end of the Grand Canal.  The Grand Canal used to be a long waterway that ran all the way to Beijing.  I think parts of it are no longer operational for boats.  We went on a night tour of the Hangzhou part of the Grand Canal.
