Clara Lately

Clara is our little ray of feisty sunshine.  She has so much enthusiasm and sometimes also so much stubbornness.   I am trying to make the most of the remaining time I have with her at home.  In August she will start school five full days per week.  This is the norm in China.  Actually she is starting a little late.  It is difficult to find swimming classes, gymnastics, dance classes etc that run during the day for 3 year olds (there are none) because the majority of the other three years olds are already attending a full-time preschool/school program.

She still loves to jump on the trampoline.  Clara does this at nearly every opportunity she can get (which is less than in Australia after you factor in rain and air quality).

Sometimes Clara likes to help with the housework.   Cleaning glass is definitely her favourite.

One day Clara decided to take a piece of foam out of the rubbish and put it onto the trampoline while she was jumping.  The result was many many tiny pieces of foam clinging to her clothes, body and hair.  We ended up using a vacuum cleaner to remove all of the pieces from her hair.

Clara in her happy place.

Grocery shopping with Mum (and Nan who took the picture).  Clara knows exactly her favourite foods in each grocery store. Clara is a big fan of hot dogs and fortunately China provides many hot dog products.  The bakery sections feature many versions of bread combined with frankfurters.

In the ball pit at the clubhouse of our compound.

Taking a nap.   I like how she was able to tuck herself neatly into the seat of that chair.

In a different grocery store.  I think I have mentioned this before but those car trolleys are awesome.  It is much easier to keep Clara entertained while shopping.  These days if we can't find a car trolley when we arrive at Metro (the name of the grocery store - think sort of like Costco), our driver will stalk the carpark until he finds one for Clara!  She has him wrapped around her little finger.

Clara with her giant pink giraffe that she named 'Kooka'.  Clara purchased this herself with some money she earned from modelling.  She is able to purchase one toy, and then the rest is saved.

Having fun with a Stormtrooper and giant Chocolate Bar.

At the fountain at People's Square.  Clara made a friend while we were there.  They would both creep towards the fountain.  Then when they got close enough to get a little wet, they would both turn around and run up the steps screaming.  Then repeat.  They were far more entertaining than the fountain show.

Trying on some fantastic Chinese headwear.  The green hat was a present Mum bought to give to Dad.  I'm sure he wears it all over Mudgeeraba and people regularly confuse him with a member of the Red Guard.

Love those curls.

Clara loves this elephant outside of a little grocery store near our house.

Going for a ride on her scooter in our compound.  Clara now uses her balance bike far more often.

Climbing trees (in a pink sequined skirt none-the-less).

A busy morning of putting together puzzles and then building big towers (to be immediately knocked over).

Some pictures of Clara modelling an umbrella.  The agent snapped these pictures using a phone when they appeared on a monitor at the shoot, so they aren't great quality.  The first one cracks me up. They definitely didn't want her to pose that way, but then decided that they liked it.  Ha!
