Ethan has recently returned from a week spent in Beijing for school camp. He came home tired and a bit dirty, but full of stories of the fantastic time he had while away. Ethan mostly decided not to take pictures, but hiking along the Great Wall was momentous enough to prompt him to take out the camera..
Ethan told us about the following experiences he was able to have during the last week. Ethan's highlights were..
* Taking the fast train from Shanghai to Beijing, and back again at the end.
* Camping next to the Great Wall.
* Hiking along the Great Wall.
* Outdoor rock climbing.
* Sleeping in a converted shipping container.
* Going to the Beijing Olympic Rowing Centre.
* Doing stand-up paddle-boarding and kayaking.
* Eating dinner in the hutongs. They were put into groups and given 400RMB. They had to go find their own dinner, reading and ordering in Mandarin. Ethan's group had dumplings and ordering wasn't challenging for them because one of the group members speaks fluent Mandarin.
* Learning how to make dumplings.
* Scavenger hunt in the 798 art district.
They did many other activities which all sounded very fun, but those were his favourites. What an incredible school camp! And a fortunate 13 year old who has been able to have these experiences!
Ethan decided to take out the camera and shoot some pictures while eating a meal. He was just playing around with the settings on the camera and seeing what he could get. I think he captured some nice-looking shots..
