Cormorant Fishing

We wanted to see a demonstration of Cormorant fishing.  This is when the fishermen use Cormorant birds to catch fish.  They largely don't use this method anymore for real fishing because the birds can only dive to a certain depth.  If they use the birds too often that particular depth will get fished out.

However, it was very common in times gone by and it was fun to see a demonstration of how it worked.

Near the fishing there was a road that was completely flooded over, but everybody just kept right on driving on it.

We watched the fishing from a bamboo boat.

The kids each had a turn of trying to propel the boat using the bamboo pole.
