Yangshuo Farm Visit

Our tour guide organised for us to visit a family who lives on a farm in Yangshuo.  As you drive around in the countryside you pass lots of farm buildings.  It was great to be able to visit one of the farms and meet the family who live there.  They had various farm activities organised for us.  They even had a cute little girl the same age as Clara.

Grinding soy beans to make soy milk, which was used to make tofu.

The girls getting some water from the well.

Me lending a hand with the soy bean grinding.

Learning how to make sticky rice cakes (which evidently don't contain rice!).

Some of the cool moulds we were using.

Getting ready to cook the sticky rice cakes.

The kitchen.

Clara went outside to play with the chickens.  When it started to rain I asked her if she would like to come inside to make some more sticky rice cakes.  Clara has learnt that when I ask Ethan and Erica to do something, they can sometimes get away with not doing it if they are in the middle of their homework.  Clara now tries to use this as an excuse (despite the fact that she doesn't attend school).  When I invited Clara to come inside she said "I can't Mum, my teacher asked me to do Taichi in the rain with a chicken".

I followed Clara and her new little friend around as they explored the farm together.  The little girl showed Clara her bedroom and her Dad's scooter.  They used the well and pulled flowers from a pomelo tree.  Clara's new friend was also fascinated by Clara's curly blonde hair.

Meanwhile, David was having a great time basket weaving.  Ha!  I made a basket too, but did it quickly.
