Back in Shanghai

After seven weeks away, the kids and I we returned back to Shanghai with one week left before school started again.  That Summer break sure is a long one.

We set about doing important things like practising going cross-eyed (and watching a movie for Ethan on the chair behind).

Erica making slime.

Glad to be back on his scooter.  Transport China-style.

I started back on my quest to find some great bread recipes.  It's hard to find good bread in Shanghai that isn't super-expensive.  It makes sense to make our own.  The above one was good - sourdough.  You have to be well-prepared though.  I had to leave the mix for 24 hours.  Then given the appeal of freshly baked bread, it was eaten very quickly.

Jodie introduced me to Chelsea Winter cookbooks while we were on the Gold Coast.  I have been trying out some of those recipes.  Yum!

We visited the optical market.  Clara found a very impractical pair of sunglasses that you can barely see out of.  We were actually there so that Erica could get a new pair of glasses.

Clara continued to figure out more ways to procrastinate cleaning up her bedroom.  In the picture above she came down to me and said "look Mum, this hat fits, can I have it?".  Ethan wasn't impressed.  She was supposed to be cleaning up her bedroom, but instead had messed up his bedroom.

It was REALLY hot when we returned.  We skipped the hottest month entirely (July), but August was also pretty scorching..
