More from the Yellow Mountain Weekend

No, not more pictures from Yellow Mountain itself.   We visited a few other places in the area.

This picture was taken in Tunxi.  A 'small' town where we stopped for lunch.  Tunxi has a population of 150,000 people (ie - similar to Geelong).  In China this is considered small.

We stayed overnight in a little inn at the base of Yellow Mountain.  This is the view out of the window (with our car at the bottom).  This was a legitimately small town.

Eating dumplings for breakfast the next morning.

Clara enjoying her hot water.  If you don't specify cold water, you will receive hot water.  At this breakfast we also received hot juice (which Clara loved).  We think Clara is young enough that her tastebuds are adaptable.  She will happily eat a lot of things that the rest of us don't like.  Once we accidentally ordered a durian pizza.  For the rest of us durian tastes disgusting and smells even worse.  Clara is very happy to eat it.  She ate the pizza by herself.

After a lot of hiking we visited the hot springs at the base of the mountain.   We LOVED the hot springs and had a great time trying the different pools.  It was so relaxing and great for our sore feet and muscles.  Erica has asked me if we can organise more hot springs visits.  This one was a clothed hot spring.  Swim suits required.  Because it was a little cold I wore a long sleeve rash vest and board shorts.  The dressing room attendants kept trying to turn me back because they thought I was trying to swim in my regular clothes ha!  I explained that these were western swimming clothes.  They let me go through, but had a look on their face like "crazy foreigner".

This was my favourite pool.  It was filled with a deep layer of small smooth pebbles.  You just sank straight into them without being able to reach the bottom of the pool.

We also visited Hongcun, which is a UNESCO heritage site.  It is also where Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was filmed.  It is quite beautiful and picturesque, but we have seen a lot of old Chinese villages now, so didn't spend a lot of time here.  Just a quick walk around.

Clara on the way home to Shanghai.  She was exhausted.
