Moments from Vietnam

Walking around Ho Chi Minh square.

The fun of walking along a footpath in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ethan eating a poke bowl.  Yum!

Clara in a rubber plantation.  We stopped here briefly to see the rubber trees and how they extract the rubber.

A kitten who joined us for breakfast in Da Nang.  Actually there were two kittens - twins we think.

New Years Eve.  We weren't aware of this when we booked our hotel, but it was located right beside the main concert venue in Da Nang for the New Year's Eve celebrations.  By and large this was a big negative.  The music was so loud that the windows of our hotel room rattled to the beat of the music.  The music ran all evening New Year's Eve (obviously)  but also the night before that while all of the musicians rehearsed.  When we checked in we asked the hotel how long the music would last (on December 30th).  They were enthusiastic about the music and pointed out that we could attend for free ha!

The positive was that we didn't need to leave the room to see the fireworks at midnight!  That is Erica's head in the bottom right corner.

Just the right number of Christmas cut-outs for our three kids.

These pictures were taken on the Hai Van Pass.  If you have watched the Top Gear Vietnam special you may know that the Hai Van pass has beautiful scenery.  The scenery was lovely until we got towards the top of the mountain and ended up inside a cloud.  This is where the viewing platform is located - at the top inside the cloud (first picture).  The view was very pretty on the way up the mountain.

Some of the dishes we ate for dinner on our last night in Vietnam.  I would love to learn how to make an egg lotus flower basket so that I could also serve my fried rice so adorably.

First day back at school and work.  Winter in China.  We have had a couple of days of snow since then, which has been fun.  More on that later.  We have also had the heater in our house break since then, which was not fun.  It is fixed now :)
