Jaipur

I don't usually write specifically about the hotels we stay in, but in this case I am going to because the hotel was an experience in and of itself.

I booked us into a newly opened hotel (actually it hadn't even opened yet when I booked) - JW Marriott Jaipur.  I wouldn't normally consider booking a hotel that had 0 reviews on Tripadvisor.  However, the JW required the same number of Marriott rewards points as the Courtyard, so it was hard to pass that up.  We took the risk and ended up being amazed by the hotel and the service.

Seriously, it was incredible.  We were greeted on arrival by the manager who met the girls with gifts of toy elephants (we were coming from JW Marriott in New Delhi, who rang ahead to Jaipur and let them know when we would arrive).  They upgraded our rooms, gave us complimentary breakfasts and personally gave us a tour of the hotel.  They later sent plates of chocolates to each of the kids.  When they found out Erica was unwell they checked every day to see how she was feeling and if we wanted a Dr, the kitchen prepared her a special drink with ginger (which Erica refused to touch) and would send her special deliveries of fruit, pastries and juice.  When we checked out they sent us away with snacks and bananas, so the kids wouldn't get hungry in the car!

Exploring the hotel.

Clara with her bindi.  She received this while we were checking-in.

Sunset.  Beautiful.

David and I had a date night at a restaurant called Mohan Mahal.  It is entirely lit by candle light and has a thali dinner.  That was a lot of food for me.  I didn't get close to finishing everything, but had fun trying lots of different Indian foods.

The menu.  A lot of food!

Some of the dishes.  All so good.

Clara testing the water at our own little pool.  We had booked regular hotel rooms, but they put us into our own little pool villas.

Clara being served chocolate for breakfast.

Musicians playing Indian instruments.  They were stationed at different locations around the hotel during a wedding celebration.  During our first day here there were very few other guests, and then after that the hotel filled with a wedding party.

Overlooking the hills.  Me with a bindi given to me as I came into the hotel.

Waiting at the front of the hotel - our driver and guide were heading over to pick us up.

David and Erica being welcomed into the hotel.

I think all other hotel stays might now have been wreaked for us.  Where else are we going to be greeted by a painted elephant raising it's trunk?  That's pretty hard to top :)
