I have so many pictures of our visit to the Taj Mahal. We kept snapping because it truly is an awe-inspiring site. Plus there are so many angles, and details. We visited at sunrise, which also meant that the colour of the sky and the marble and the shadows kept changing and creating new awesome vistas.
We were very happy to be able to visit the Taj Mahal as an entire family. Erica was now feeling a lot better and had been able to join us on activities from the beginning of our stay in Agra. None of the kids particularly enjoyed the very early morning start, but they were suitably impressed with the Taj Mahal.
The Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. She died giving birth to their 14th child. After Shah Jahan died, he was buried in The Taj Mahal alongside his wife.
This is what you see as you enter through the gates into the complex.
There are two buildings either side of the Taj Mahal, as pictured above. In their own right they are very impressive and would be a tourist attraction. However because they are located right beside the Taj Mahal it seems like they don't get much attention.
Ok, enough Taj spam :) It wouldn't be an understatement to say that this was the most beautiful building I had ever seen in real life. Imagine how many pictures we would have if photography were also allowed inside.
