The stuff that children's nightmares are made of.
Sorry, I obviously saved this one with a small file size. Giant rubik's cube coffee tables (with removable lid!). I think this would go well in a lounge room with one of those giant hand chairs.
Light-up artificial plant - so you can enjoy it during the day and at night?
Matching Mother-daughter outfits. This is kind of cute.
If you want to take it a step further the whole family can get in on the matchy-matchy theme. There are a lot of sellers on taobao that sell couple, family etc outfits. There are entire stores dedicated to this market and I love that there is. We're not brave enough to wear the outfits, but I like seeing the results on others. My favourites are the boyfriend-girlfriend outfits. When I see people wearing these I always wonder if both members of the couple are as equally enamoured with their matching outfits. In Vietnam we saw a couple who were wearing shirts that said "my girlfriend" with an arrow and "my boyfriend" with an arrow. Could be confusing if you stand in the wrong places.
If you have enough money in your bank account you can order this slide with just a few clicks.
Or a giant lobster statue. Catering for the amusement-park market? Restaurants? You really can buy just about anything in China I think.
This is serious, not a joke, and I have seen it come up in a few different stores. Ikea bag handle chokers.
Last, but definitely not least, my all-time favourite product ever advertised on taobao..
Clara wasn't asked to look through the transparent part of the umbrella, but the company liked what she did, so decided to use that shot ha! She also did some modelling for some toy kitchens, but I never caught those adds when they appeared (if they ever did). A while later Clara started school and I turned down more modelling jobs, which were scheduled for school hours. That was the end of Clara's short-lived modelling career. It was a nice boost for her savings account, and she was happy enough to do the work, but I was somewhat relieved to not keep doing it. Child modelling is hard-work for everybody else in the room. Not easy to get a young child to stand and pose exactly as requested - particularly when it involves only being able to lift/touch a certain part of a toy at a time.
