This is a world famous site in Sichuan. The Leshan Giant Buddha is 71 metres tall and built during the Tang Dynasty. It is the tallest stone buddha statue in the world. There used to be dangerous currents in the river. A monk believed that carving a buddha into the mountain beside the river would calm the waters, making the area safer for boats. So much stone was removed from the cliff face and deposited into the river, that it did indeed change the currents.
This is taken in Leshan city.
Also in the city of Leshan.
This is from the previous day. Clara was so tired from the visit to Dujiangyan that she fell asleep in the afternoon still wearing her panda headband.
In the airport. Ethan being a good big brother and taking Clara for a ride.
The main square in Chengdu. Not too dissimilar to other squares in China with a big Mao statue.
