We stayed at the Atlantis hotel in Dubai for one night. I discovered that if you have an overnight stay you get complimentary access to the waterpark and all of the other facilities on both the day you arrive and the day you check-out. This worked out well for us. We arrived early the first day and left late the next day, enabling us to visit the Atlantis waterpark easily over two days. The girls loved being in the waterpark. David and I also thought it was pretty fun. Clara had a turn on all of the rides she was big enough for, but mostly preferred to play in the kid's play area (a big structure with bridges, rope climbs, slides, dumping buckets etc). Erica rode Zoomerango pretty much on a loop - now her new favourite waterslide.
Ethan unfortunately couldn't go on the waterslides, but he spent that time hanging out in a teen's zone in the hotel, which was well-equipped and he had a good time in there. Ethan scheduled times with his school friend in Germany, where they linked up online to compete against each other in playstation games.
We also visited the Atlantis aquarium.
