We had two and a half days in Dubai. This was enough time for us to go see some major sites and do some shopping (not because we love shopping but because there are things we can't buy easily in Chennai, that are much easier to find in Dubai).

The Dubai Mall loaned Ethan a wheelchair. This is what happened to it.
Inside a lolly shop in the Dubai Mall. Erica and I went shopping, while David, Ethan and Clara watched a movie and enjoyed the entertainment options around the mall. Poor Erica had grown out of a lot of her school clothes (no uniforms at our school) and needed new ones, but the supply of western clothes for girls is pretty limited in Chennai. At our local shopping centre we have been able to pick up the odd item from H&M and Marks & Spencer, but the range in Dubai was much more extensive. I've been pretty happy to adapt my dressing to include more Indian-styled clothes (it's much more comfortable in this hot climate and there are some gorgeously printed cotton clothes), but Erica hasn't been as keen.

Ethan, Erica and I went to the viewing deck of the Burj Khalifa. We enjoyed it ok, but really the view wasn't as interesting as other places we have been to such as Sydney and Shanghai.

We had lunch in a jungle-themed restaurant. The animals in the background all moved periodically. It was pretty cool. One wall was the big fish tank from the Dubai Mall. Those nachos above were the entree size!
The New Year's Eve fireworks at the Burj Khalifa. This was our view from the deck of the cruise ship. David and Erica were fast asleep, but Clara, Ethan and I enjoyed watching the fireworks. It was super convenient to be able to watch the fireworks and then go straight to our cabin to sleep. Sorry about the background noise. The ship was making that sound.
