Dakshina Chitra is a museum of South Indian homes. The buildings have been deconstructed and rebuilt, then presented in zones of each state. There are also displays and shows. When I asked the kids who would like to come with me to see a museum of South Indian homes, my only taker was Clara. We had a fun Mother-Daughter date.
On the path to the markets.
There are quite a lot of terracotta statues like this around Tamil Nadu. There are a couple of giant horses at the school.
Clara collected little treasures along the way from some of the different states. We watched a glass blower turn a piece of glass into a little ganesha statue, which Clara was able to take home. She also picked out a clay lamp. The pink violin above was her favourite handicraft. She played it all the way home. I'm sure our driver loved that. Unfortunately a couple of days later we had to throw it away when we discovered that the timber was harbouring wood borers.
