We got up very early on Friday morning and headed to Nizwa. We left Muscat early in the morning because we were trying to catch the Nizwa goat market. Local Omanis come here to sell/buy goats, cattle and even camels.
The herders paraded their animals around a circle, while bidders stood around the circle calling out their prices. We saw lots of goats wandering around beside the roads and at places like Wadi Bani Khalid. Our guide told us that all of the goats are owned, there are no strays.
After the goat market, we wandered around the rest of the markets and shops. We saw fresh produce, honey, dates, live poultry (as above) and souvenir shops (as below).
We also visited Nizwa Fort..
The children were learning passages from the Quran.
My favourite display at the Nizwa Fort.
