Sri Lanka Part 1

We had a really fantastic trip to Sri Lanka during February.  We met up with three lovely families we know from China.  It was fun to catch up with friends.

In Colombo.  We were only here for a short time, an overnight stop between the airport and the beach..

Erica happy to arrive at the beach.  We stayed in Weligama.

Clara's fingers after the first day.  So much swimming!

This is what that beach looked like.  Amazing!  So beautiful!

We visited a turtle hatchery.  Check out those cute baby turtles.

Ethan and some of the other teens looking at the turtles.

We were allowed to pick up the baby turtles.   I hope this doesn't cause any harm.

We also went on a whale watching cruise..

We were able to see some dolphins and whales.  Some of us had some struggles with seasickness, including myself.  I took medicine, which works well for me, but makes me super drowsy.

The girls and Lucy getting off the boat.

A video of the dophins swimming beside the boat.  I thought the dolphins were more interesting than the whales, largely because we had such a close view.

Making good use of the water sport facilities at the hotel.  That is Ethan surfing in the video.  Ignore the bit where he almost runs into somebody!  He has continued surfing at the beaches near Chennai, and now loves it.  There were a lot of people learning to surf at Weligama.  It looked like a great place to do it.
