Lakshmi the elephant is a special attraction at the Arulmigu Manakula Vinayagar Temple in Pondicherry. For a period of time each day she stands outside of the temple greeting visitors. Visitors are able to gift her money or food, which she collects from your hand using her trunk. In exchange she blesses you by tapping your head.
We were fortunate to be able to time our visit well to see Lakshmi.
Clara wanted to see Lakshmi take the money from her hand, but she didn't want the blessing in return.
