School Holidays in Australia

Our first priority was to get Ethan's ankle checked out.  It was determined that he should have the metal plate removed from his ankle whilst in Australia.  Above is Ethan getting ready for his operation.  Not too keen.  For my part, I felt much more comfortable having him go through this process at The Wesley, compared to the hospital in India.

Post-operation and feeling relieved to have it over and done with.  He had some recovery time back at Nan and Pa's house, but was able to go surfing a few weeks later.  Ethan is now back to regular sport.

Clara after playing pie face.

The girls enjoying some time on a set of swings.  We don't have access to swings in India (unless you count the swing chair on our balcony, which they do not).

I found this picture in Mum's files from our trip to the Great Wall in Beijing.  Cute!

Clara had an early Birthday party, which she largely planned herself.

Doing the limbo.

Happy almost 6th Birthday!

Ethan and Clara at Currumbin.

I turned 40 while we were away.  David arrived in Australia right on my Birthday.  We went away for a couple of nights, which was a nice break.  Then the kids joined us for the last day to make use of the hotel swimming facilities..

Clara in the pool.

Ethan helping Clara construct the lego set that she had picked out as her Birthday present from Grandpa.  Lately Erica and Clara have started to enjoy lego.  They have been taking out Ethan's lego sets and reconstructing them.  Fortunately they are mostly still separated into their individual sets.

A fun afternoon spent jet skiing with the Jeffrey family.

I snapped this picture on our last night on the Gold Coast.  I needed to buy lots of pool noodles to use as cushioning for Ethan's surfboard, which was being transported on the plane the next morning.  I was also capturing a shot of a 'normal'-looking supermarket with so many options.  We have no such thing here.  When I need to buy food I usually have to go to many different small places to find everything I'm looking for, sometimes including wet markets.  And that doesn't always work.  Yesterday I was trying to buy the ingredients for taco salad, but I could not find beef mince (won't be available for another week), sour cream or edible lettuce.
