Lalbagh Botanic Gardens

These gardens were started in 1760 and cover 98 hectares!  They aren't the most impressive Botanical Gardens we have ever seen.  However, it was nice to take a morning stroll through here, because we don't have anything really comparable in Chennai - there are gardens, but not as nice and well-maintained.

A really cool tree.  With the gardens being so old, some of the plants are of a similar age and very-well established.

Clara's nemesis.  There are monkeys in the gardens (there are monkeys in most outdoor places in India, though anecdotally it seems like a lot less in the South than the North).  Clara was drinking from a popper, which we know is not a great idea around monkeys, but we hadn't noticed the monkeys yet.  One of the monkeys came over and tried to jump up to swipe Clara's juice.  A nearby street sweeper decided to solve the problem by taking Clara's juice from her and giving it to the monkey.  Clara was unimpressed with the whole thing - both the monkey and loosing her juice.

A bonus picture of Clara in the lobby of the hotel.  Using Mr Men toys as earrings.
