Vellore

Vellore is a city that is located a few hours drive inland from where we live.  It's population is similar to that of the Gold Coast (in size - there's very little else that resembles the Gold Coast).

We stopped through to visit the Vellore Fort.  It was built in the 16th Century and is surrounded by about 2km of moats.  Inside is an interesting Vijanayagar-era Temple.

It was a good place to get out and stretch our legs before getting back in the car for more driving to Bengaluru.

Stopping for a thali and dosa lunch.  Many of the South Indian restaurants are a good fit for our family (especially the ones that will let us order dosa past breakfast time).  Clara LOVES dosa.  David, Ethan and I like a thali (the silver trays with many smaller dishes on top).  Erica likes fried rice (which for some reason is often on the menu).  Each person's meal usually costs around 100 - 150 rupees ($2 - $3).  Much better than a Big Mac!  (though the kids may disagree).  As far as I can tell we are yet to have any illness from these meals.  We have an app that gives hygiene ratings to restaurants, which helps.

Driving into Vellore Fort.
