Shivanasamudra Falls

These were about a 2 hour drive from Bengaluru, on a detour as we travelled to Mysore.  We didn't have a lot of information about the waterfalls prior to going.  The concierge at the hotel assured us the water would be flowing because it is the rainy season.  I obtained most of the navigation/road condition information from an Indian online forum about road trips.  We went on blind faith.  It turned out to be worth the trip.

The falls were great, but the country landscapes around the area were also worth the visit.  There were lots of rice paddies and gorgeous green open space.  We loved the streets with large overhanging trees, quaint little villages, driving over bridges across scenic rivers, passing little country Hindu temples.  We also liked seeing village life as we passed - people carrying loads on their heads, washing their clothes in the river etc.

We wondered between ourselves why so many people live in the cities in poor circumstances with very low-paid jobs (or no jobs) when they could trade it in for life in this beautiful clean environment.  Our driver quickly responded - because there are no hospitals.  Good point.

Such beautiful countryside!
