Dambulla Cave Temple

During our Christmas break we visited Sri Lanka.  This was our second visit.  We love Sri Lanka!  We highly recommend it as a holiday destination.  One of the best things about living in Southern India is being a short plane ride from Sri Lanka and The Maldives.  The elephant orphanage from the previous post is also in Sri Lanka.

These pictures were taken at the Dambulla Cave Temple complex.  There are five different caves with different Buddha statues and art.  The Buddha images were first started here over 2000 years ago.  Over time more Kings have added to the collection.  It has been a place of worship since 1st century BC.

Inside the caves.

Outside of the caves.  Ethan is wearing my scarf around his waist because his shorts were not long enough to be allowed entrance into the caves.  Although from looking at this picture they were longer than Clara's shorts.  Must be different rules for younger children.
