Lead up to Christmas 2020

December 2020 was a busy month.  It usually is anyway due to Christmas, but we also moved apartments.

We had received our shipment from India and unpacked the last box.  About a week later we received a notice from our landlord asking us to move because they had sold the building.  We were able to locate another apartment that would work, so we decided to just move and get it over with.  Our old apartment was packed up the week before Christmas.  We moved into a hotel for a while, then moved into the new apartment a few days before Christmas.

Fortunately in Korea when you move house the removalists unpack EVERYTHING.  Literally, the boxes are plastic reusable boxes, they have to take them with them when they leave.  The downside of this very quick unpack is that a team of approximately 10 people have shoved all of your belongings into any cupboard they could find.  So, it takes a while to locate where all of your belongings are and reorganise them.  We still occasionally have moments where we need to go hunt down an item.  Last week we were hunting for the pizza stone that goes with our BBQ - we found it!

Because I knew we were going to pack up I didn't do much Christmas decorating in the old apartment, but I put out our new Korean nativity.  It is celadon pottery and so cute.

The girls made and decorated Christmas cookies.  They did an amazing job!  We've been enjoying that most products are easily available in Korea, so it's a little easier to do fun activities like this.  We're still missing our vegemite though!

Two of Jingle's hiding spots.  Clara is now wise to Jingles being a toy and enjoys being able to invent fun scenarios for him.

It started snowing, which adds to the Christmassy atmosphere.  So exciting for the girls.  They have gone from year-round Summer in Chennai (though there is technically a 'Winter') to a definite four seasons in the year in Seoul.  It's similar to what we had in Shanghai.  For me personally I actually kind of miss the climate in India.  It's really convenient to only need the one Summer wardrobe for everybody.

It's so pretty.

There are Outback Steakhouse restaurants here, which we enjoy eating at sometimes.  We liked seeing this Aussie Christmas tree.

Beautiful gingerbread house.  This was at the entrance to the restaurant at the Marriott in Gangnam.  We were staying here during the apartment change-over.

While staying at the hotel, Erica and I went out one night to see the trees lit up.  Erica is wearing her pyjama pants :).
