Ethan Lately

Ethan perpetually has a lot of homework and spends a lot of time studying.  He is in his final year of the International Baccalaureate Diploma, which is a very challenging and time-consuming program of study, but he is doing really well.  It's not all study though.  He does get some time to hang out with friends and have fun.

During the Summer last year (ie June to August in Korea) we stayed in Seoul due to the travel restrictions.  Ordinarily this would be our window to visit Australia, but it wasn't to be.

Ethan started to do some University applications during this time.  He also embarked on a couple of projects.

One project was collecting funds in order help an orphanage in Goyang, which houses residents with disabilities.  Under normal circumstances they would be able to have volunteers help within the centre, but during Covid this had stopped.  Ethan was able to raise over $1500, buy a lot of supplies that they needed and deliver it to Angel House.   The lady on the right is one of the people who runs Angel House.  Some of the residents were waiting for us when we arrived and helped to carry the goods inside.  They were so sweet.

The other project Ethan worked on was completing an online course via Harvard.  He studied Entrepreneurship in Developing Economies.  I found the content interesting too, so sat through the online lessons.  It was really fascinating, and sparked a lot of conversation for us because many of the examples used came from India and China.
