During Easter break of 2023 we visited Busan. Busan is Korea’s second largest city and a really fun destination. It’s quite pretty, and as a port city it kind of reminds me of Hong Kong.
This picture was taken in Gamcheon Cultural Village. The village sits on a hill side beside the sea. It is full of brightly painted house, and artistic streetscapes. Clara and I went here for an afternoon, while Erica and David stayed back at the hotel to care for Nora.
David gave Clara 10,000 won (about $11/12 AUD) to buy cultural souvenirs. She bought a large duck-shaped fairy floss and a slushie in a dinosaur cup.
Clara with her purchases :)
It was a lovely place and we had a lot of fun exploring there.
David took Erica and Clara for a morning of surfing.
Nora peacefully sleeping while her older sisters were surfing.
We went to a street food area to sample different snacks. Above Clara has chocolate ice cream inside a toasted marshmallow.
We visited the seafood markets. Clara wasn’t keen on the food we ordered.
We took a cable car across to an island off Songdo Beach.
During our return trip in the cable car, Clara was trying to get people in the opposite cable cars to wave back at her. She was not having much success, until right at the end when she got a full car to wave back. As we got closer and could see the faces of the group waving back enthusiastically, Clara exclaimed ‘oh, they are teachers from my school!’
This is on a walkway at Songdo Beach.
We visited a temple that sits out at the seaside in the Northern part of Busan..
I think it’s very practical how the temples have different spaces for different forms of prayer. The place to pray if you want safety on the roads.
Where to go if you’d like a son.
Where to pray if you or somebody you know has a big exam coming up.
The girls scaling the steps. Erica carried Nora for the entire visit to the temple.
Might be accurate. It was beautiful.
