Golden Mount

Wat Saket and the Golden Mount.   The mount was commissioned by Rama III (King Phranangklao; r 1824–51), who ordered that the earth dug out to create Bangkok’s expanding klorng (canal) network be piled up to build a 100m-high, 500m-wide chedi (stupa).  I hadn’t been here before and really enjoyed it.

Nora received a gong lesson from a friendly monk.  We’re used to being told not to touch the gongs in other countries.
