This was a very fun day. Erawan Falls has seven tiers of waterfalls throughout the forest. You can hike to each one and enjoy swimming under the waterfalls. We had initially intended to only go as far as the third tier, but Erica and Clara were really enjoying themselves, so kept urging us to continue to more tiers. It’s lucky we did continue because they had the most fun at the fourth tier.
For some reason the pictures from the day have uploaded backwards, so we’ll go in reverse order.
Nora enjoying an ice block after a big morning of hiking and swimming.
The above pictures are from one of the bottom tiers (I think 2?).
These pictures are from one of the upper tiers (I think 6?). This is as high as we hiked.
Clara was walking past this monkey sitting at the top of a staircase and it swiped out at her. Thankfully it didn’t touch her. We hurried past this monkey because we didn’t feel like going to the doctor for a round of rabies shots. We’re vaccinated, but you still need to get more shots if a monkey scratches you.
We came to the bottom of a staircase and found that there was a whole group of monkeys sitting on a narrow bridge that we needed to cross. The bridge also had no railings. Knowing that these monkeys may not be so placid, given our prior experience with their friend, we waited until a good moment to cross. We went with a large group of tourists and stayed on the outside.

This was tier 4 and the favourite of Erica and Clara. When we arrived there was some Thai people sitting at the outskirts of the water, but nobody swimming. I explained to the girls that the rocks were natural waterslides and if the girls felt comfortable, they could try this out. Both girls climbed up the smallest rock and sat up the top while they decided who would go first. Clara was the lucky Guinea pig. Once she successfully slid down the rock into the water there was a round of applause above us. It turns out multiple groups had stopped to watch. After the girls started sliding, more people hiked down and joined them on the rocks.
This is the third tier. We came here first. Nora also joined in the swimming.
