For our 2025 summer break we did an epic one month trip across America, starting on the West Coast and ending on the East Coast. Usually we spend our Summer breaks at home in Australia, but we had a special reason to be in America this year.
We kicked off our adventure in San Francisco.
Ethan and Rachel were able to join us. This is on the boat on the way to visit Alcatraz.
Despite it being Summer, San Francisco had weather similar to Winter in QLD. A rare chance for us to rug up in our winter gear. I had to buy Winter clothes for Nora, who previously had very little need for warm clothes.

Walking along a path at Alcatraz. I didn’t take pictures from inside Alcatraz. It was very interesting and I enjoyed the audio tour. It definitely would not have been a pleasant place to live (which I guess is somewhat the point of a prison).

After lunch we headed to Musee Mecanique. This is a very large collection of antique arcade games. We had a lot of fun! Above is Erica and Clara having their fortunes told.

Riding the cable car from Ghirardelli Square area through to our hotel which was at the other end of the route. This ride was unexpectedly really enjoyable - great views, a look through some nicer residential neighbourhoods and the fun of going up and down the hills. Clara was able to ride part of the time standing on the step on the outside.
